Landscapes in Salento
To better appreciate the Salento landscapes, a good choice can be Castro. This is divided in two, Castro Alta, which climbs on the rock overlooking a beautiful landscape, and Castro Marina, which overlooks the sea.
In the upper part are the remains of the Byzantine civilization, consisting of the crypt with the oriental saints with almond eyes, the foundations of the Messapian city and the medieval houses.
